Lies look dull in dim light
I hid...
I did not hold any jewels
they were stones...
I hid...
I did not hold any jewels
they were stones...
Aika walked around the swimming pool looking at her reflection on the undisturbed water surface. She had come to the swimming pool to be alone and with most of the students home, this was the perfect chance to be here alone. Most liked to go to their own swimming pools.
Aika wasn't in a swim suit but her everyday uniform. The only exception being she'd taken off her shoes and the white stockings to keep them from getting wet. The day had been a bit surprising for Aika. She had done her work and hadn't been asked to do any errands for once. She had one of the rare smiles on her face as she looked at her reflection in the water.
She bent down, running her hands down her skirt to keep them near her legs and away from the ground with stray droplets of water that hadn't dried from someone stepping from the water. Looking at herself in the water, Aika had a strong urge to stick her hand in the water and ruin the calmness of the water.
She found the urge to be too strong and gingerly touched the surface of the water with the tip of her finger. The water was warm as usual but when she pulled back her finger, she found that it was cold in the exposed air. She watched the ripples flowing in all directions. She sat quietly for a few moments then sat on the edge of the pool and put her legs in the warm water. She liked how the lights reflected under the waters surface and she imagined that her legs were longer than they actually were. The length that her mother had wanted them to be.
She imagined what it would have been like to be a model like her mother. The small smile on her face decreased slightly. She looked up at the ceiling of the room and let her mind play out her whole life if she had been what her mother wanted her to be. If she had been a great actress; if she'd been more outspoken and could sing in public.
She could see herself with a group of friends around her, everyone asking to do her favors instead of them asking her to do their own. It was a nice thought but it left a bitter after taste. If she had been different she wouldn't really be herself, would she? She sighed and laid back, no longer caring about the wet ground or her uniform. Her arms were out at her sides, palms up. Her legs still in the warm water. She looked up at the ceiling one last time before closing her eyes and letting the sound of the water moving in protest to her movements sing her to sleep.
