::Yumi Kururugi::
Type: Original
Age: 16
Gender:Female
Sexuality:Heterosexual
Crushes: ---
Face Claim: ---; found on photobucket
Appearance:Yumi stands roughly 5' 4"(163 cm) and weighs about 108 lbs (49 kg), making her a little smaller than her older sibling. She is naturally thin despite the amount she can eat, leaving some of her clothes baggy on her at times. She is notable for a similar appearance to her older brother, Suichi, though not exact. She does, however, resemble her mother greatly.
Yumi has her green eyes and straight brown hair. Her hair, however, is darker than hers and Suichi's. The girl keeps her hair long, and it stretches to just a few inches under her rear. She usually keeps it out with a headband, bandana, or something of the sort in it. It is rare that she pulls up back, or styles it any other way.
In addition to that, she keeps a long, teal colored peice with a feather attached to the hair infront of her right ear. With a love for jewelry (be it real or costume), and accessories, she is usually adorned with rings, beaded bracelets, and earrings--especially if they sparkle or shine--when out of her uniform. At times, she'll even put beads in her hair. Yumi is usually dressed in, what she considers to be comfortable when not in her uniform. These include jeans, sneakers, a shirt, and a casual jacket or sweater. She use just about any color with her favorite: teal.
Her face is usually bright, and beaming with a smile. On occassion that it's not, it's usually got the look of curiosity on it. She wears no make up with the exceptions of candy flavored lipglosses manufactured by her family's company. The girl has no real scars, or lasting blemishes, but she has a small beauty mark under the end of her right eye--away from the nose. However, once in awhile she'll have a few bruises or scratches from accidenatally hurting herself.
Personality:Definitely the more bubbly one between her and Suichi, she's usually smiling or grinning. At first glance, Yumi is your typical klutz, dense, talkitive, and hyper type of girl. She's clumpsy, and silly, which often result in her making a fool of herself. Which, in fact, doesn't bother her at all. She fully embraces it, and will take responsibility for any mess she makes. She'll even hope it gives others a good laugh. She loves nothing more than to be happy, to see others happy, and to live.
Taking on how her mother raised her, she is mostly happy-go-lucky even when talking to others. She's cheerful, prefering to only see the bright and positive side of things. Attempting to keep things this way is her way of coping with her mother's death. Her mother had always wanted her to do so, so she decided she will. She's can be childish in behaviour and personality. She'll take her childishness to the next level, often changing her voice to sound like that of a child, and making up words. Yumi has a small habit of acting like everyone's little sister, or at least, trying to. Yumi also has a habit of talking to herself or her stuffed pig, piggles.
She has always been extremely curious of her surroundings and others, causing her question just about anything or anyone. This spurs her love of learning. The girl doesn't mind classes, or studying. She loves to travel and explore unknown places because of so. Because of her natural hyper nature, she tends to get lectured by her step-mother, though she is now used to it. Yumi is not her step-mother's ideal of a "proper lady", causing a rift between the two, yet this has not blunted her 'need' for having fun.
When dealing with family, she tries to do what she is told at all times. She gets along well with them, with the exceptions of her step-mother, and half-sister who is close to her age. Not that Yumi and her step-mother hate each other, but the girl doesn't understand the older woman's ideals. She is often scolded by her for being "out of line", too hyper, or for asking too many questions at the wrong time.
When it comes to Ami (her sister), however, Yumi just plain doesn't like her. Her distaste for the girl mostly runs for her cocky attitude. The girl, however, is close to Suichi. She tells him anything and everything, and is often found near him. Though Yumi misses her mother greatly, she tries her best not to seem sad about it, or tries to avoid the subject entirely. Talking about it is not something she's fond of, and it's one of the things that can make her lash out at others without meaning to.
She generally doesn't have a temper, and over looks things easily. At other times, it blows right over her head. However, if pushed, she can have a fiery temper and always fights her corner, usually resulting in one of her comical fits of rage. Aside from this, Yumi is generally an outgoing, and outspoken person. She's not afraid to speak her mind or tell someone that they're wrong when they are.
She's generally sweet, offering to go out of her way to help others. She'll share food, and sometimes can be a little TOO trusting of people. This lands her in trouble often. She can be dense to an extent when it's not academically related, allowing things to blow right over without giving it much thought or allowing it to process in her brain.
Yumi's weakness comes from her love of videogames, games, food, and her sweet tooth. She has a huge love for ice cream in particular, and sour candy. She can be instantly bribed to do anything when a good ice cream or dinner is on the line. She dislikes corn, and mushrooms, and loves seafood.
History:The Kururugi family are well known for their cosmetic label. Taro Kururugi had met Aya Inoue at a debut of sorts. His family's company had been celebrating the release and debut of their new line of mineral make-up and skin-care products. He had been there merely for the media, but she'd been one of the models showing off the new make up. As fate would have it, the two met. Most would say it'd been love at first sight, though others would call it lust. Whatever the case was, the two married, and soon after they had their first child. Yumi is the second born child in the most recent Kururugi generation. She was born roughly a year after her parents first and only son, Suichi.
The couple had married too young, and way too soon. Money was never the issue, but the two found reasons to bicker and complain about the other anway. Yumi was still young when her parents divorced, only being three years old at the time. Once her mother landed another modeling job with an American agency, they were gone. Aya had moved to the United States, taking her two children with her.
This is where Yumi spent most of her life. The girl lived good off of her mother's pay, and the money her father sent for her and Suichi's well-being. Though she didn't live poor, never didn't live a super rich life style either. Their home was in a good neighborhood, full of friendly people. The only issue was that to get to work, Aya had to cross through a bad part of town.
Yumi, instead has lived a pretty normal, and free life-style. She was never subjugated to learn much about etiquette (or as her step-mother would put it, "how to be a proper young lady") or anything of the like. Though that's not to say her mother didn't teach her how to be polite and to behave. Throughout the years, Yumi had gotten close to her older brother. It got to the point the two were rarely seperated.
Yumi attended school as other child would. Her schools up until middle had never been private, upon decision of her mother, but they were good schools all on their own. She wanted Yumi and Suichi to have a bit more freedom than she had growing up. Yumi had always had a love for learning, and was always more than happy about going to school. Her mother had always told her that knowledge was power, and the girl was prepared to take in all she could.
The two were no strangers to Taro, however. He called, wrote, sent money, and visted his two children at every turn. However, as Yumi got older, and he took over the family company, his visits became less and less frequent. His calls were always on time, so she never had much to complain about concerning the issue.
Shortly after her sixteenth birthday is when disaster roared its ugly head. Aya had been walking home from work when she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout. She died in the hosptial from blood loss. Shortly after the funeral, Yumi and her brother were sent to live with their father. When they arrived, Yumi came to learn that Taro had remarried, and had two more daughters.
One was closer to their age, fourteen, and the second was six. It was something he had never mentioned. Not once. From the start, Ami, he fourteen year old and Yumi didn't get along. Ami was selfish, and had a cocky attitude. Yumi didn't appriciate it, and started to ignore the younger girl at every turn. The six year old got along with her just fine.
Yumi met her step-mother, Hinako, for the first time when she returned from a trip. Things seemed to be going just fine, and the woman even seemed to be kind. And she was... to an extent. The woman disapproved of Yumi's hyper personality and actions, and often puts her through lessons to be a "proper young lady".
She was all about image, despite her kindness behind the media. Though Yumi hates the lessons, she continues herself through them to please her new "mom". With the school season starting, Yumi and Suichi were enrolled into Ouran Academy by Hinako. It was just the perfect place to send them. What would look better than her new children attending such a school? Where all types of wealthy families' sent their children?
Yumi has no idea what the school is like, or even what will happen as she starts her first day...

Today was the day. The day she'd start her first day at her new school: Ouran Academy. Her step-mother had enrolled her, and she was soon accepted... just as her step-mother had wanted. The woman was all about image, and Yumi knew it well. She'd never been to a private school before. Her mind raced. What would it be like anyway? Would it be different to the schools she attended in America? The difference she could point out immediately was the uniform. She never had to use one before...
She started down at her dress, hands on her hips.
"What an ugly uniform... eh, Piggles?" She muttered over to the stuffed Pig sitting on the end of her bed. She wanted nothing more than to add color to her dress; to add accessory after accessory to wardore. To make it stand out! To give it some flare! Though she knew attempting this would only get her in trouble. Darn.
The girl sat by her window, peeking out of it in curiosity. Nothing unusual, besides a car pulling up. Must be the one we're going to school in... She thought with a smile. This new school wouldn't be bad, right? Tons of others in her age range, everyone different. So what if they were all rich? Everyone was different, no matter their backround. She was sure to make friends! She could feel it down in her bones (or at least, that's what she kept telling herself). There was a knock at the door that caught her attention right away.
"Yu!" Her smile turned into a grin. It was Suichi, her older brother, using his nickname for her. "Hurry up! Ami is complaing like always!" She snickered. Ami always complained, about anything and everything. She was a spoiled brat, as Yumi herself would say. She knew it was the reason she didn't get along with her sister.
It had to be it; she could see no other reason."Coming! Just gimme a minute!" She called back, scrambling to grab and put a hairband on. She rushed out, nearly knocking the older teen over.
It wasn't a long car ride, but it sure was quiet. No one in the car spoke, not even the Ami had anything to say. The car dropped her off first, and Yumi was happy to be rid of her. Sure, she hadn't said two words to her today... but she just took that to mean a BIGGER complain was to come out of the girl later. Maybe at dinner. Yeah, that had to be it, so Yumi figured.
Soon they were at Ouran Academy. The car stopped. The girl laid eyes upon the school. This really would be a new experience. She had never gone to a school... so big! She had lived well with her mother, and her father always sent money, but never had she gone to a school of this size... or with so many people. She opened the car door with a squeal, and zoom! She was running. "YEEEE!" What an unusual site. It had to be.
Too bad she ended up tripping and falling flat on her face before she could get very far. Oh boy...
