Breath. Stroke. Breath. Stroke. Breath. Stroke. Breath...
The steady rhythm brought the pale girl closer to the edge of the pool with every stroke and quickly at that. Her dark hair rippled out behind her like some water daemon who's natural domain was here while her body made barely a sound as she cut though the water. She'd been here like this all day, the stress had overwhelmed her today, the memories and all and so she'd spent her day in the pool toning her already firm muscles. She knew she she should have went to class and Kendo practice and her parents would likely be furious with her later when they found out. Her honey colored eyes blinked rapidly as she fought back the tears that hit her eyes, it had to be today didn't it? The anniversary of her death had to be today...
The brunette suddenly wanted nothing more than to pull herself from the water and take a walk so she did. When she reached the cool tile of the side she grabbed hold and hauled her dripping wet body from the water. She had laid a towel out earlier and grabbed the puffy white thing quickly wrapping it around her body, it would have been embarrassing to have anyone see her in a bikini as she was never skimpily clad. She wasn't even wearing her gloves for goodness sake, at that thought her eyes were drawn down to her arms and rested on the scars there. They were thin and not ugly but they only served to remind her of what she had lost that day. She frowned at them and headed towards the closest chair taking a seat on the edge and starting to dry her hair.
She was of course of what she had done that day but it didn't change the fact that she hadn't been able to save Chikori. Her parents didn't blame her nor did anyone else, her guilt came purely from inside of herself. She supposed that was why she so vehemently protected everyone around her, to atone for her one failure. She rubbed at her arms with a distant look before returning back to Earth it seemed and throwing the towel over her head and starting to scrub the wetness from her hair. She couldn't help herself and closed her eyes drawing on a place inside of her, she could hear the piano, feel the keys under her fingers and her voice filled the Gym that was thankfully empty. Singing, anything to do with music really, calmed her and she let the words flow from her while she dried herself.
No one was likely to show up in here anyways, right?
