Well, it seemed that the discussion was finally starting to make its way off from the cakes and sweets and onto a more interesting conversation; the Host Club itself. Explaining the Host Club was usually Kyouya’s job, but obviously Tamaki was fine to do it himself. And better yet, even with the girl having a bit of a rough start into figuring it out, it seemed she was starting to get it. Even if she didn’t fully get his own role in it all, she seemed like she would become a regular customer to the club. Granted, there was a very good chance it was just for the sweets, but if that is what would make her happy, then that would be fine. While he would rather figure out how to fix her family situation (Tamaki did not like sitting back when there was a family falling apart), he could do what he could to make her happy.
”Yes, it seems you are starting to get the idea.”
Apparently the want to keep this all a secret though was so much that she didn’t even want to know about where the sweets came from. Listening to her talk, however, just kept making it worse and worse for Tamaki having to not intervene. To be fair, he wanted to hear the side of her sisters; when bad things happen to families sometimes the bitterness could lead to people exaggerating or not telling the whole story. Still, whatever the case was, he was having to hold back with all his might to not get involved. He was going to get Kyouya to do some digging into her situation, that was for sure. He couldn’t sit back quietly in situations like this, but he had to wait till after Club activities to do so…
”Whatever the case is, we’ll always be here for here, with love, attention, and sweets.”
Talking about Kyouya and his work, Tamaki did realize he never thought about whether or not Kyouya would get in trouble for what he did. Then again, his information was public stuff, like rumors, gossip, chatting, etc…right? It wasn’t like he had cameras and things like that hidden everywhere , did he? Whatever Kyouya did, Tamaki assumed it was perfectly legal…
”Well, knowing Kyouya, he isn’t going to do anything that would get him in trouble and risk damaging his reputation. I’m sure everything he has is completely public information, no better than what you might hear among the students talking in the halls. At least I hope so….”
Tamaki’s suaveness had shifted over to his more curious nature by that point, but he was forced into action upon dealing with the girl burning her tongue. The situation was quickly dealt with as they brought in water. As conversation returned, she wondered if he had ever been to the US.
”Why no, but I did live in France for most of my life. You see, my mother was French and my father from Japan. But of course, whether France or the US, there is no distance I would not go to be with you….sorry, it’s a habit to talk like that.” he said, suave for a moment till he remembered she was not used to dealing with such talk. Yumi, although full, couldn't get her eyes away from the sweets just yet. They were all just tanalizing to the eye. She picked up a cupcake, took the cherry, and ate it. Ooh~! Fruit. Yummy fruit. "So, are you guys here every day after school? Or is it only certain days of the week?" She asked, now slowly beginning to pick at the icing. Did they spend a lot of time in the Host Club? Or did they spend time doing other things? Like going to the mall, or the park and such? "Do you spend time anywhere else, Tamaki? How about the park? I haven't had a chance to visit, yet."
Though, that had mostly been her fault. She wanted to roam, and explore the new city without restraint. There was just a few issues: her parents wouldn't let her go alone, her new "mom" wanted her to complete her lessons, and Suichi seemed to be too busy to go with her (not to mention she certainly didn't want to go with her new sister. All they would to is fight and argue about each other, making her miss out on the exploring!). She couldn't blame them for not letting her go alone--only lord's knew what she'd get herself into. Besides that, She was impatient at times. This caused her to loathe waiting; waiting for Suichi to be done whatever it was he was doing to go anywhere. Be it Piano lessons, or some kind of work (whatever it was he did in his spare time).
By the time he was done, it'd be too late, she was now busy, or she was off and interested in something else. She had snuck out once to [try and skip her etiquette lessons that her step-mother was making her take] go to the park, but that was a dud. She was caught the moment she took a few steps out the back door. Hinako was now onto a lot of her, as she'd call it, "grand schemes" to get away from those lessons. She huffed a bit, still picking at the icing on the sweet. "Though, I kind of just want to explore the entire city! It's kind of hard when Sushi's too busy, and she just wants me to practice being a 'lady'. It's kind of evil, really." She muttered, sitting the now icing-less cupcake down on the table.
"You hope so? Which one is Kyouya? I'mma ask him later!" Yumi suddenly exclaimed, eyes and head moving to look at the other members of the club. Oh yeah, ask. More like bug him until he got frustrated enough to tell her. Or yell at her (as many people seemed to do now days...). Tamaki did tell her their names and roles, but he failed to point out who the name belonged to. Although, this did make her curious, it created a bit of a game in her mind. "Wait, wait, wait! Don't tell me!" She laughed lightly to herself and her new "game". "He's... that one! That one!" And she pointed at the closest one. She had no worries about pointing. Not today! Not while Hinako wasn't around anyway. The woman would lightly tap her hand and go on about how it's rude to point and stare and whatever else she felt like lecturing about.
"France? How is it there? So you're 50 percent French? Cool! Both of my parents are Japanese, but I spent about thirteen years in the US with my mom and Sushi..." Yumi stated, turning her attention to the little bit of water she had left in her glass. She traced the rim with her finger, shifting in her seat. It was an idle action, but she was just so used to moving around at all times. She hated to just be sitting or even standing still.
Each time it was like someone put a bug down the back of her clothes. At least it wasn't that bad this time. She wasn't jumping up and walking about. Tamaki had managed to keep her attention pretty darn well. "Ahaha. That's okay. It'd be cool if you actually did that so we could talk. You're easy to talk to." She drank the rest of her water as quick as she could. The girl held out her empty glass to him with a sheepish smile. "Can I have some more water, please?"

Tamaki watched as the girl in front of him began to pick at her cupcake slowly, licking at the icing and cherries. Hmm, maybe there was a reason why her stepmother was so tough on her about the being a lady thing. After all, Tamaki was a bit of a stickler for being polite and proper...in the right environment of course. Like the Host Club..okay, the rest of the club might disagree. Still, he wasn't going to say anything; if she wanted to eat a cupcake like that, she could eat the cupcake. Besides, it would be a nice change of pace to loosen up a little around here...
"Yes, the Host Club is here every day after school and during all special school events. As for what I enjoy outside of the club, I've been to the park some but enjoy other parts of the city. I also practice the piano at home," and have been attempting to locate the home of Haruhi Fujioka so I can learn as much about the life of a commoner as possible he added in his mind.
He did run off quite a bit to explore commoner's life, such as supermarkets and malls and other such things ever since Haruhi had joined their little club. After all, to ensure that his precious little Haruhi was secure and comfortable, he felt like he had to know as much about her way of life as possible...and to make sure that she wasn't living in a rundown shack on the verge of dying every day as her family lacked the funds to buy a decent meal every third day of the week and....okay, okay, imagination getting out of hand again. This was not the time to be imagining Haruhi's family situation...
The girl huffed about something as Tamaki was daydreaming, bringing him back to attention. She was complaining about her family again, and how to be taught to be a 'lady', as she put it. He could understand the need to explore the city (after all, he had Kyouya drag him around all of Japan when they first met), but at the same time he could understand why a parent would try and teach proper manners and edicit etiquette Hmm, maybe it was time for him to speak up...
"If you do not mind me saying something on the topic, but while you may not like it, learning proper etiquette is an important part of being not only a host, but a member of society. It can be troublesome at times, I understand, and I can also understand that urge to explore. However, as a young lady you must not neglect the proper manners expected of you. For example," he pointed at the cupcake which now sat icingless,"Most people would see picking slowly at the icing as you did to be of a childish behavior. We let Honey-sempai get away with it as it's part of his character, but generally speaking it would be best to tastefully enjoy the cupcake in it's entirety. You can eat slow, but not by picking at it.....sorry, sometimes my urge to teach hosting gets the better of me. Let's move on..."
Eventually the topic returned to the hosts, and the girl was quick to begin a game of guessing who was which host. She pointed randomly at one of the hosts, which in this case was Honey-sempai. Kyouya would probably feel a little insulted at the choice, but whatever.
"That is Honey-sempai. Kyouya is taller, black haired, and wears a pair of glasses. He's probably out ordering supplies or something like that at the moment."
So many conversations were going on with this girl, and it soon focused on where they had all been in their lives. She was Japanese but lived in the US, but she seemed interested in his being French. Well, he usually didn't talk too much about that part of his life with guests, but if she wanted to hear about it...
"France is a lovely country. To be fair, I picked up a lot of what I know about hosting from there. But please, I'd rather hear more about your life in the US..." he replied, and then soon afterwards slipped into the compliment speaking. But it seemed to not bother her or go over her head this time so she must have been getting used to him.
"Why of course," he replied, grabbing a nearby pitcher and refilling her glass. [/blockquote]

Yumi watched Tamaki as she picked at her cupcake. She was planning on eating the vanilla part of the cake, but she was too distracted by the chocolate icing to care much about it at the moment. "Every day, huh?" She thought for a moment, going over Suichi's schedule in her head. She had memorized it like she had her own, just incase she needed to find him for any particular reason. What did he do after school anyway? She didn't recall him signing up for any after school activities. Now she wanted to know. Finding out what Suichi had been doing after school lately earned itself a spot on her mental 'to do list'. Since he left her alone, he must've been doing something... right? Normally he would've walked her to the Library (the place she said she'd be at), patted her on the head, and told her to behave herself. Ha! Like she didn't know to behave herself. She had to admit, however, sometimes she just ended up getting into trouble--unnecessary trouble.
"I'll see how often I can come by then! I don't see an issue with it!" Unless she got caught, that is. But if Suichi had been leaving her alone after school to do whatever he was up to, then how could he catch her? She'd just wait in the library for a few minutes after he'd gone, just to be on the safe side. Who else could catch her and tell? Her sister? Okay, maybe that would've been a potiental problem, but she didn't see that actually happening anytime soon. Ami avoided her like the she was the plague during school hours and on school ground.
Oh, how Yumi loathed those darn lessons. She couldn't stand them. They were as bad as the taste of corn! No, even worse. Although, thinking about it just a little, she came to the conclusion that just maybe it wasn't the lessons themselves that she hated. It might've been the teacher. Yes, even if there was another reason, she still didn't like them. Hate was a little strong of a word. In any case, that didn't keep her step mother from lecturing and getting angry if the girl forgot a detail or messed up in some sort of way. Not everything was about looks. Why couldn't she just stay at home at social meetings? She didn't like those, either.
Yumi didn't really see the point in taking etiquette lessons. She used her manners, and she knew what to say when someone did something nice, and vise versa. blew a tuff of hair out of her face, slightly in frustration. Now he was talking about it. Defending that woman, even! She crossed her arms over her chest, her cheeks puffing up from her gesture. "I don't see a point. I like being me. Me is childish..." She muttered lowly to herself, pouting.
Looks like there really was no place where she could get away with being herself and not have something said. He wasn't mean or anything. In fact, she liked his way of telling her what was right and wrong. He wasn't snapping, telling her father, and he wasn't getting red in the face from frustration. His attitude didn't deserve a childish remark. Those were best saved in arguements she'd no doubt have with her sister later, anyway. She kept her pout, but at least she got out her apology and sounded like she meant it (even if she was behaving like a big baby). "I'm sorry. Next time I won't eat it like that..."
The moment of being down didn't last. The game she suddenly game up with was enough to bounce her back from it. The pout was replaced with a laugh the moment she started. She didn't pick the right one. Darn. Figures that she short one wouldn't be the right one. "Honey? He looks like a little kid!" She exclaimed, surprised. He was shorter than her! That was... new. She glanced around again, but didn't find anyone matching Tamaki's description. Not anyone with glasses that fit his words.
The girl could recall her mother mentioning how nice France was for a vacation or visit. Apperently, that's one of the places she had gone in her youth. "Oh? My life, huh..." She fell silent, even after she got her water. She sipped at it, shifting in her seat. "I loved it. It's so different from here! I didn't have a uniform for school, then again, I didn't go to a private school, either. And we didn't live a high class life like this. I'm not used to having so many people around at home. Anyway, Mom worked during the week, but she was usually home by the time we got home. If not, Miss Rivera would be right there waiting for us. She was nice. Didn't speak much English or Japanese, though." She smiled a bit, recalling plenty of misunderstandings. "You see, I'm not very good with Spanish like Suichi is. I was trying to ask her were my pants were, and instead, I told her that I had meat in my pants. The look she gave me was priceless!
"I had a cat, too! She was a tiny little thing, all black. I named her Midnight, or Middies for short. She was so little, but she could EAT! She stole Miss Rivera's Porkchop right off of her plate. While she was eating from it. She had a fit! Mom spent a lot of time with us, too! All three of us would spend almost every Saturday or Sunday together. In the afternoon, we'd bake. Mom had tons of cookbooks for all kinds of sweets and dinners. It was like she didn't have enough of them, she needed more; she always brought home new books. For dinner on that night, we'd all pitch in the work, and try and new dish. And we had our baked good for dessert." Yumi smiled to herself, reliving the memory, even for just a few moments. She took another drink of water. "Sorry, I didn't mean to talk so much."

As the girl worked to figure out her schedule, Tamaki assumed, he simply sat back and sipped on some tea. He personally hoped that it didn't involve her running off from something important or from her family in order to come her. Normally, he wouldn't be this involved in the lives of his guests (denial of course, not just being a river in Egypt), but he was concerned about her running off from her family. While he knew of course about the feeling of wanting to get away from the family, he didn't want to see families fight and argue. Even though most would think he had every right to be angry with his own family, he wasn't, and he still did his best to be kind and friendly to even his grandmother. Eventually Yumi was going to have to confront her family; he just hoped that the Host Club wouldn't become a casualty in the mess.
"Well then, we'll be glad to have you as one of guests then Yumi Kururugi."
In response to his comments regarding etiquette, he receieved puffed cheeks and crossed arms. To be fair, he had gotten a little lecturery in that little spiel, which was probably a little out of line for a host to do. If she was wanting to be childish while amongst the hosts, then he really couldn't have a say except maybe to suggest Honey-sempai as a host of choice next time around. Before he could say anything ,however, she was apologizing for eating the cupcake like that. To be fair, he really didn't mind that much; he was just using it as an easy to see example of his point.
"No, you don't have to stop eating like that while you here if you really want to. If I offended you in anyway I didn't mean to do so madame. If that is what makes you feel happy, you are free to do so here."
He had to smile a little when the girl recognized that she had been pointing at Honey-sempai this entire time nad not Kyouya. Apparently a lot of people had this reaction when they first saw Honey-sempai. So he was really used to it all.
"Don't worry about it, a lot of people have that reaction about him. He might make a good choice of host for you next time. He really enjoys his sweets; most of our budget for them are for him after all."
Soon the focus turned into Yumi giving out her life story, with Tamaki listening politely with the occassional sip of tea as she went through her youth in America. So apparently she had gone to a public school in America, had only one staff or something of the sort in this Miss Rivera, a cat, and a mother that sounded a lot like Haruhi's own mother. By the time it was done, Tamaki was listening intently, pretty much as captivated with Yumi's story as he was with Haruhi's story.
"No, it's no problem at all. Many of our guests love to talk like that. Now, do you think you could tell me more about the school that you went to?" he asked. By this point his curiosity over commoner's life was starting to overtake the behavior of a host... [/blockquote]

"Happy to be a guest, Tamaki!" Yumi grinned, having finally figured out a way to work around Suichi in her head. If the boy ever became suspicious, she'd just stop coming to the club for a bit. Just long enough until he would think she was actually where she said she would be. Doing that always worked before with him, so why would it stop working now? "But just call me Yumi, okay?" She added. It wasn't that she disliked her last name or anything, but she just rather be called by her first. She didn't see a point in saying her last name, unless she was in class. That was another thing all together. What if there just happened to be another girl named Yumi? Well, whatever, she supposed.
"...Are you sure? You're not mad?" Yumi asked, green eyes looking up. "Hinako thinks it's gross and sometimes gets annoyed." She mumbled, mostly to herself. She didn't see what was so gross about eating a cupcake like that. Or any sweet for that matter. So she picked at the icing first. Who wouldn't?! Okay, maybe a lot of people wouldn't, but it was a habit of hers. And boy did she know habits died hard. Very hard. Suichi wasn't as childish as her, but he did get in trouble for eating his sweets (the very little he DID eat) the same way. It was something the two had picked up from their mother, she supposed. "I'm getting... somewhat used to her rules. She's nice most of the time, but when it comes to that kind of stuff and image, she's mean as hell-o!"
The girl laughed slightly. "I'm not surprised. He's tiny. He looks younger than me!" She exclaimed, tilting her head to the side. Just to examine him a bit more. He was obviously older than he looked, if he was wearing one of their male uniforms. He just looked young for his age (and was short), so she figured. But how old was he exactly? "Hm? Oh, really? Maybe I will. I like talking to you, though." She replied with a small shrug. Wait, if she DID see Honey next time, then she could ask him all about his age, looks, and all that stuff that just filled up her brain! Then, she wouldn't have to bother Tamaki about it.
Yumi was glad to find that she wasn't boring Tamaki with her story at all. In fact, it was a nice release to talk to someone else besides Suichi about it. He knew all about it, of course. Although, that didn't stop the two from sitting in one of their rooms and talking about it for hours on end. They'd even bring up times they were embarrassed or in trouble with their mother... or Miss Rivera. "My school? It was called Central East Middle." She said, thinking for a moment. What was so special about it anyways? It was just... so different from Ouran. Yup, really was. "Well... it was a little crowded in the hall ways, but it wasn't too bad. But... I hated when people would just stand in the hall and talk! Like they had nowhere to be! Especially if they're bigger than me! I was late for class a lot my first few months! After the first few months, you kind of learn short cuts, and ways to get through. Lockers lined the walls, and everyone had their own! Teachers were okay. My science teacher smelled like over-ripe fruit. And my math teacher was called "Miss Kibbles and Bits" as a joke behind her back. I lost my bookbag a few times. Turns out, I kept forgetting it in in her room.
As for school clubs and sports, I was on the volley ball team! Who knew hitting a hard ball over a net was fun?" She snerked at herself, picking up the icingless cupcake. She bit into it. "We also did these dances once every season. They were five dollars for a ticket, and all the money we made was donated to the school or charity. They didn't serve much I liked in the lunch room, so I just brought my own from home. Unless they had a good PP and J. I'd eat that, too. Fights were really rare. I can only recall one, in the lunch room. Over a boy, at that! I don't understand why two girls would fight over a boy! What's the point? If he's messing with more than one, why keep him around?" She finished, voicing her thoughts on the subject.

”Of course, Yumi.” Tamaki responded to her demand to be called so. Whatever the guests liked being called, he would oblige. If the girl was glad to be a guest at the Host Club, then he would do his best to ensure she continued to feel that way!
”No, of course I’m not mad. I just understand where your step-mother may be coming from when she stresses manners on you. Next time she begins acting that way, consider that maybe she is just wanting what she thinks is best for you and isn’t purposefully being mean.” Tamaki responded, noticing the girls still complete disliking of the situation her stepmother was putting her in. As someone who was big on manners himself, he could feel an empathy with the stepmother. More importantly though, Tamaki did not like to see families fight like this. While normally as a Host he didn’t give advice (liar), he couldn’t really sit idly by and watch a potential source of conflict like this happen right in front of him. He wasn’t defending the step-mother; he was simply asking Yumi to step back a moment and try and see it from the stepmother’s side. Of course that was easier said than done; it just happened to be something Tamaki was good at doing with his natural empathetic self.
Her reaction to Honey was pretty much normal for newcomers who weren’t familiar with him. He simply sat back and laughed a little as she awed at how young he looked.
”Yes, he is a third year student; he and Mori-sempai are the oldest ones in the club. But don’t worry, your reaction is normal for most people.”
As the conversation turned towards the topic of her school though, Tamaki lost his pretty boy charm and instead was like a puppy dog, eager to hear what his master had to say as she explained to him how public schooling worked. He had heard of these lockers, and imagined an entire hallway filled with them. Of course his idea of scale was Ouran-based, so he had imagined rather large lockers, almost like a closet. And the halls were crowded and filled? Since he saw the school in his head as like Ouran, he imagined a sea of bodies filling the hall. Wow, was the world so overpopulated to cause such a situation? No wonder she was late to class so often.
The rest of the stuff seemed more like commoner-class versions of Ouran. However, he had to stop and comment when he heard her saying she didn’t understand what the point was fighting over a guy. As he began to talk, one could almost senses roses and sparkles in the air.
”Why Yumi, that is probably the easiest question to answer of all. For as long as mankind has lived, people have fought to possess the rarest of treasures, treasures with beauty beyond compare. Unfortunately for many, such beauty is found in the form of a man like me…or a young lady like you,” he added the last part, keeping up with his Hosting through and through,”To fight over such beauty is natural for those in love. Now if the boy was in fact two-timing these girls, then he deserves nothing but the shame of being outcasted by society. But other times, we beautiful people just can’t help but be the prize in a war of affection between members of the opposite sex. Or in the case of some the same sex…” he replied, looking over at the twins as they performed some of the ‘forbidden brotherly love’ act…

Yumi's grin turned into a small smile. The smile shaped her face, making it look more soft, and mature than how she usually did. "Or Yu, for short if you want. It's what a lot of people called me back home." She offered, brushing brown locks of hair out of her face. Yes! One more place where she was just Yumi. One less place where people were just addressing her as "Miss Kururugi". Like she was just another person in the house; like she didn't have her own first name. A name that made her different from the rest in the house. It was little things, like being called by her first name, which made her feel just a bit more comfortable. At quite a few places, she was just another one of the Kururugi bunch. It felt weird, being known and called like she was someone special. She really wasn't, she knew that much. She wasn't poor back in America, but she certainly wasn't this rich, either.
She was happy to hear that the boy sitting next to her wasn't mad, but she couldn't understand why he would defend her step-mother. The upside, however, was that he wasn't starting to sound like her father. He could go on, and on, about the woman, and how she was doing this and that for this and that reason. Whatever it was he was talking about. After the first few times, when her father had called her and Suichi to "talk" (Yeah, about Hinako), she had tuned him out. "...I don't know..." Again, the girl was mumbling. It was as if she was unsure of it. She fiddled with her fingers, biting down on her lip yet again in thought. "Doesn't like it..." It just didn't seem that way, not the way Tamaki was suggesting. If the lady would relax and let loose just a little bit, they wouldn't bump heads like they did.
The girl couldn't believe her eyes! Honey... just looked so young! She'd seen boys and girls who looked younger than they actually were. Some even had what people called a "baby-face", but they were taller than this boy who was not too far away. However, he was a WHOLE new subject. He was short, and looked like a little kid far too much. She felt a little odd, a sudden want to run over and hug him. Just as if he were a teddy bear, ready to get attacked with attention. "Really? Who's Mori again?"
As Yumi talked, she took occassional sips of water to keep her throat from getting dry. She loved to talk, and sometimes, she talked a little bit too much. Although, she felt as if she should explain somethings. She could kind of see it in his face, but judging from how the new people around her lately acted, where they lived, and this school she was now attending, she could tell he was imagining something that wasn't exactly right. She laughed, well, more of a little giggle. "I bet you don't know how big they really are. Lockers are small and grey, usually." She started, getting to her feet. "They're about this high," She stood on her tip-toes (darn being short!), holding her hand up to try and show the height. It reminded her of her old school, and how she had to stand on the edge of the inside of the locker just to reach the top shelf. It was where she liked to keep her lunch, because of the bottom was all her books. She would've had smooshed lunch everyday if she didn't do so!
"And they're about this wide and have this much space inside," She continued, holding her hands out infront of her to reveal that the locker was really only about as wide, if not a little wider, than her. She used her hands, again, to show how deep inside the locker really was. "There's a shelf here, a hook her and then the whole empty space for coats, and the bottom I put my books! Top shelf was for my lunch. " The girl finally finished, but she didn't think to touch on how big the school actually was. He didn't think they were as big as Ouran was, right? No, he had to have known that public schools were obviously smaller... right? That's what she figured, anyways.
Yumi sighed a deep sigh, before biting into her cupcake again. She thought, and thought about it. She went over reasons in her head many times before, and even now, she could never come up with a good reason to fight over a guy. It was pointless, time consuming, and a pain in the butt. Why couldn't they fight over something more meaningful? Like a good peice of chocolate cake? Maybe it was just a love thing. Tamaki caught her attention right away, and she gave him an amused look in return. "Beauty found in people, huh? I guess that's true," She nodded in agreement. Though in her mind, she thought he meant in someone's personality, and not just their looks. She had to admit though, there were tons of people in this rich society that were considered beautiful by looks alone. Then, with the rest of his words, it sounded like he meant by looks. It gave her something to think about.
"In love? I never been in love before. Have you? What's that like?" That was something she didn't understand all too much either. Even from those old fairytales her mother would tell and read when she was a little girl. So the Prince dashed in on a white horse, slayed the evil dragon, and kissed the princess. Or the the girl would clean the house and cook (because her step-mother and sisters were just plain lazy and mean!) somehow had a fairy (what was she again?) that gave her a nice gown so she could meet the prince and live happily ever after. Yeah, she knew she was forgetting tons of details, but whatever. Then again... no one she'd met so far caught her fancy in THAT type of way. It was something she had never thought much about... unless one counted the nights she asked her mom to tell her of how she'd fallen for her father.
Tamaki called himself the princely type before. Thinking on it, she could imagine him dressed, and running in to save some kind of princess. Whoever she was, didn't matter because she got the mental image of him running from the dragon instead of slaying it, and it made her snerk. And laugh. Hard. Oh, where her mind would wander and the jokes she made up in her own head. "Whatcha looking at?" She asked in a fit of giggles, eyes looking to trace his gaze over to what he was glancing at.

”Why of course then, Yu. Whatever name you choose to use for yourself, it will be burned into my memory forever alongside your unforgettable face.” Tamaki responded, graciously accepting the girl’s request to simply refer to her as Yu. Such casual use of names was fine at the Host Club; if the ladies were fine having their smooth skin massaged by the gentle fingers of the Hosts, they were usually fine with being addressed by their first names or by a nickname as well. To not be would be a little bit hypocritical, or at the very least very weird.
The conversation regarding her family was starting to end out, but he had fit in one more defense of her step-mother. Granted, he didn’t know the full situation, so he really shouldn’t have been butting in like this, but for Tamaki, it was almost a sin to sit by and do nothing when faced with a family slowly falling apart. He hated the stress and distance his family had, especially the distance between him, his father, and his grandmother. There was still hope they could all reconcile and live happily ever after, maybe share a kotatsu together. But that dream was still a long ways away; for now he would just have to live off seeing other families doing the same. Right now, however, he would have to move the conversation onwards; there was nothing left he could really say on the matter. Instead, he would just deal with her surprise at Honey’s identity.
”Mori-sempai is the tall man with Honey-sempai. The two are cousins, and they quite nicely play off each other’s strengths; the boy-lolita and his cool, stoic protector. A very nice combination really.”
When she got up to describe how big the lockers were, Tamaki found himself being disappointed by their size, but yet oddly curious at the same time. Those lockers were tiny little things, so how did they fit all their stuff in them? Tamaki’s stuff alone would fill up all of it, and that would be before he even put his books in them. Then again, poor people probably didn’t have hair care products and other beauty-improving items with them at all times so maybe they didn’t need them at all. However, he did think it rather cute how this girl was having to stretch to show this information. He could easily see her and Honey being a rather adorable pair to watch; he would have to get these two together just for the moe factor being unbelievable.
”So how much stuff did you take to school anyway? I couldn’t imagine fitting all my stuff in a locker that small…”
After his speech on beauty and love and all that went with that, he awaited her response. Her thoughtful face made him think she was indeed thinking over what he said, but he was a little surprised when she asked what being in love was like. Why, that was an easy question! Being in love was like…was like…hmm, why couldn’t he think of an answer. Everything about him told him he should be able to answer that question perfectly fine; he basically made the entire female population of the school fall in some form of love. Well, no, that’s not true; most of them were crushing on him and fangirling him; that was not the same as love.
”Uhm, well, no, I guess I haven’t been in love myself. I mean, I guess I can say I love all women, but that’s different from the kind of love you’re wanting to discuss. I guess I can’t really answer that question.” Tamaki responded, a little sad he couldn’t answer that question honestly. He could imagine the feeling, but he knew it was just an imagination, not the honest truth.
Eventually the girl started laughing about something, but he wasn’t sure what. He would just sort of ignore it for now and instead answer her question about what he was looking at.
”Oh, well, the twins over there play up a taboo love between them to draw in the kind of girls that love that sort of thing. Don’t worry about them.”

Yumi couldn't keep the happy expression from her face. It was even harder for her to change her facial expression when Tamaki called her by her nickname. Ah, it sounded nice. It felt nice to be called "Yu" by someone else other than Suichi. It wasn't that she didn't like her brother calling her by this nickname, it just happened to become so common. Too used to it, she supposed, to the point that anyone else calling her as such just felt better. Besides, this boy had now become the first person in Japan to call her this.
The conversation concerning Hinako had come to a stop. The boy didn't mention her again. Instead, he skipped right over her and onto the next subject; skipping over Yumi's uneasy feelings. He skipped over the girl's mumbling, and confusion. She could practically feel the sense of relief wash over her like big wave. Hitting her, nearly drowning her in the feeling. But, she decided instantly that she liked it. It was a good feeling. This new feeling stopped her from nervously fiddling with her fingers, and biting down on her lip. Maybe one day (and probably not soon in her line of thoughts), she'd understand her new step-mom. Maybe in that same day, she'd come to like her a little more. Whatever the case was, she wasn't thinking much on it. Who would like a woman who pushed and pushed anyway?
Moving from Honey, the girl kept her want to run over and hug him at bay. So Mori was the tall guy. And he was related to the smaller guy. Wow! He was tall. His height made it look like he was perfect for certain sports. Basketball seemed like a good choice. Volleyball and running track seemed like good options, too. Track seemed to fit best, in her mind. With the long legs, he would be ideal for it, right? Did he play any spots? Maybe, maybe not. She made a mental note to ask him later. Well, as Tamaki said, his height was used for one thing right off the bat. She nodded a few times, taking it in and thinking his words over. It made sense. She could see the "magic" that made it work.
Even though Yumi had to stretch just to help Tamaki visualize the size and looks of lockers, she was having fun. And, she was getting a good stretch of the arms, to boot! Her grabbed her attention quickly, turning her head at his question. "Just how much stuff DO you have?" She asked with a few confused blinks. "All I ever took were my books, my lunch, and sometimes the occassional coat or umbrella because of the weather. Oh, and I would keep my handheld videogames in there... but that's about it." She answered honestly. Just how much did someone need to take to school? It was SCHOOL. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yumi kept quiet after asking him, waiting for him to answer. She didn't get the answer she was looking for. Figures. Afterall, they were all just in highschool. They had tons of time in their lives to find that sort of thing. It would happen one day, in some shape or form, right? "Oh, guess I kind of figured that. Sorry." She muttered sheepishly. She should've just kept the question to herself. That didn't keep her from keeping her next choice of words back, however. She clapped her hands in front of her chest, before giving him the best show of puppy dog eyes she could put on. She even pouted to add to the effect! "Well, if you do fall in love, one day, will you tell me what it's like? I'm curious, and want to know! Plleaaassseee? With lots of cherries on top~?"
Besides all of the stories, she didn't really know what it was. Being in love wasn't the same as loving someone, right? She couldn't say that romantically loving someone wasn't different from how she loved her brother and cat. She knew that much, but it didn't clear everything up. Not even when she thought about it... not even when her mind raced to old stories, and Tamaki being dressed up. And running from the dragon. It was certainly one mental image she wasn't going to get rid of soon. And it was probably one she should keep to herself... as to not hurt his feelings. Who knew how he'd react to her seeing him as a running prince, instead of a dashing and courageous one.
"A taboo love? That's... a little weird." Not to mention it sent an uneasy shiver up her spine. What the heck? That was... more than just a little weird! It didn't seem right... but they had to be acting. It was the only thing Yumi could come up with to fit the situation. Yeah, they were acting to attract girls who were into it. It was just as Tamaki said! She was sure of it (or at least hoping...).

It seemed to be a very pleasant thing for Yumi to have him call her by the requested nickname, and that is all Tamaki needed to know. The goal of the Host Club was to make every girl happy, and from the looks of things it seemed he was succeeding in this goal with this girl. Her personal troubles aside, it was worth everything to Tamaki to just see a girl be happy. Anyone who doubted that statement was just cynical; Tamaki was nothing but sincere in this belief. Plus, with her small size, she was like a female Honey-sempai, and her smile was just as adorable as his. Still, her personal problems bothered him, but as he knew she was rather uneasy about them, he had to move on from it and just rely on the club’s network to learn more about them.
The girl was rather surprised about his statement about wondering how she fit everything into a small locker. He didn’t think it was odd; he carried much of the same stuff that she did (minus the lunches). Maybe he was just overthinking things; after all most of his stuff fit in his bag rather well. For some reason he was of the opinion public school people carried more with them than his school. Like the lunches for example. And she was in an American school; they really liked their stuff if his knowledge served him well. Besides, all the shows showed people getting stuffed into lockers, but the size Yumi showed would only work for girls like her; how would a boy get stuffed in one?
”Hmm, maybe I just overestimated how much you would carry to a public school, and I guess maybe people getting stuffed into lockers isn’t as common as the television shows it to be…
The question about love might have thrown him off a bit, but he answered honestly. There was no reason for her to act so sheepish about it though; it was a perfectly fine question after all. Her puppy dog act however was rather adorable; if there was a female version of the Host Club she would definitely get the equivalent role that Honey-sempai was in at this club.
”Why of course I will Yu, there’s no need to beg about it. I have no trouble at all expressing my feelings, as you can probably tell by now. Whenever I fall in love, there is a very good chance the entire school will know how it feels.” Tamaki joked (pretty much oblivious that was not in any way how his mind worked).
As for the twins, he sort of agreed with her on the taboo love thing, but as it was his suggestion for them to do so he couldn’t argue against it. It was their appeal, their niche in the club to draw in the ladies. They weren’t really in some kind of incestuous relationship, at least as far as he knew (he respected the privacy of his club members after all…sometimes).
”Yes, well, there are ladies who find it appealing and draws them to the club. It’s just the way things are, and admittedly it is good for them. They were a rather lonely pair when I first met them; they’ve really grown out of their shells since then.”
Looking at the time, Tamaki noticed it was about time he switched clients. He hated to move off the new member, but there were plenty of women who were wanting his attention.
”Unfortunately, it is about time for the Hosts to switch guest Yu. I have many other of ladies to have a conversation with today. Hopefully we will be able to meet and talk again like you want. Till then, feel free to enjoy the other Hosts at the club.” he replied, his dashing smile ending the goodbye on a happy note.
