Hikaru was sitting down at a table in Music Room 3. Kaoru had informed him that there was something he had to do after class, but for the life of him he could not even think what his brother could have possible have to do without him. He closed his eyes and grinned slightly since they were not expecting any customers today. No, Kyouya had purposely set today aside to go over the coming budget and film with Tamaki. Usually the club did something together just for them, but it seemed like he was the only one in the room.
He took a drink of his coffee and stared at it for a moment before placing it down. He felt himself growing angry that his brother was nowhere around him and no friends around to take his mind off him. He was jealous he knew that, but he just did not understand why he could not let go of this jealous he had for his brother. Perhaps his brother was interested in a girl?
“…No…Kaoru would have told me if this was about a girl…we would have played the game we use to in middle school with her…” Hikaru closed his eyes and thought back to middle school where they crushed a number of girls’ young hearts over the game they played. It brought a smile to his face because he realized he had Kaoru with him then, however, something else dawned on him. “…Its not a Host way to play those games anymore…” He said to himself.
He sighed some and stood up and started to pace around the table. He stopped when a sudden idea hit him. “…Yes…I will go find him…that is what I should do…” He walked towards the door and as soon as he got there he had to step back in order not to get hit by someone opening it.
He blinked and stared into the eyes of someone and it dawned on him that it was his twin. “Kaoru!” He felt relieved that his twin was there now and more calm. “Where have you been?!” He drew closer to his brother without a care in the world. For all he knew there were some girls looking around, but that was beside the point. He did want to make sure his brother was not hurt even though he knew at the school there was very little chance of such a thing.
He grabbed Kaoru’s hand with his right hand and dragged him into the music room. They were alone and it meant that they could plan evil things against Tamaki for the most part. Messing with Kyouya, Honey, and Mori was usually a line he did not cross without good reason.
“I have been thinking! That we should pull a trick on Boss. Something like the time we tricked him into performing that Lord role in the Christmas play.” It was how he saw Tamaki when the boy demanded everyone to pay attention to him.

Kaoru sighed as he sat at the long table in one of the many libraries that their academy had. Across from him sat one of the male students from class 1C, looking quite miffed about why he had just been turned down. He had written a note and everything! He had worked so very hard to get to where he was sitting today, it was simply too far to be turned away now. ”But why not?” The boy asked, desperate for answers.
Leaning back in his chair Kaoru ran his ling fingers lightly through his hair. Why did this have to be so difficult? ”I don’t have anything against you man, it’s just a little out of the blue, you know?” He was forced to suppress a sigh again as he rummaged through his pocket and placed the wrinkled, hand written note on the table between them. ”And really, if you wanted a tutor you could have just asked me. None of that embarrassing note stuff. But I don’t think I’m your guy. Why don’t you ask Haruhi? He’s the top student in the class.”
The boy froze; it was obvious that he looked up to all of the students in class A, he didn’t have to pretend to be so secretive about it. And just like that the boy was talking again, explaining why he couldn’t possibly bother Haruhi, someone so smart and so busy. This was why Kaoru didn’t bother informing his brother about this meeting. It was just so insignificant and troublesome.
”I’m sorry.” he said while standing up, a sign that told the boy that he was through with this conversation and he had better things to be doing.”I just don’t think I’m an adequate teacher for you. I’m very busy lately and I wouldn’t even know where to start.” That was a lie; the Host Club was more dead than usual, what with the preparations for the film coming up. And he studied with Hikaru all the time. He felt terrible for leaving the guy hanging, but he was cutting into group time, and Kaoru liked hanging out with his friends.
”Try asking Haruhi or the class president, I’m sure they would be more than willing to help you move a class.” And with that Kaoru smiled, waved and turned to walk out of the library. He would never understand why people thought he would be a good tutor; he didn’t have the highest grade in the class. Sure it was pretty high, but he was also so busy with Hosting. Who would ask a host to study knowing a host’s busy schedule? Kaoru blinked. ”Oops, I guess I shouldn’t have recruited Haruhi… I’ll have to apologize to her.”
His train of thought was cut off when he made it to the music room door. The knowledge that he would be reunited with his brother soon instantly calmed him. But what he wasn’t expecting was for his brother to be standing right in front of the door as he opened it. ”Hikaru?” He asked, his voice being drowned out by his twin doing the same and calling out his name.
When his brother practically closed the distance between them Kaoru became a little worried. Had something happened while he was gone? Was he away for too long? Had Hikaru suffered without him by his side? He knew it was stupid to go to that meeting without telling Hikaru, but it was so trivial that he didn’t want to bother his brother with it. He should have told him. Kaoru’s eyes softened. He was a terrible brother.
”I was just at the library with-“ Kaoru never got to finish the sentence because he was being pulled inside, the door shutting behind him. And then the plan came out. Well, it wasn’t a definite plan yet, simply a bud of a plan just waiting to blossom under their care. The redhead smirked, plans were always fun. ”What do you have in mind?”

Hikaru felt instantly calmer when he saw Kaoru standing in front of the music room door. He always felt angry when he didn’t have his brother near him and it was something that he could never control. This also made him feel bad knowing how the separation did to him and yet knowing at the same time their bond could only grow. He just hated sharing his brother with anyone else other than his friends and even that was a bit of a step for him. He knew he was dependent on his brother, but it had always been like that with them. For now Hikaru took a moment to calm himself a bit more so not to worry his brother.
He did feel a bit terrible for not allowing his brother a moment a peace without him. ”Why is it so hard to be left alone and without him? It was just a mere few minutes that I was here alone with my thoughts…but it was hard…and it hurt to be away from him….”
He took a deep breath and caught his brother say something about being in the library, had immediate dismissed it and started to talk about the plan about pulling a prank on Tamaki. A plan that was just a simple bud of a flower for now, but with the power of twins it would get it’s water and grow into a marvelous devious plan. It would be something that it would only be fitting for their ‘daddy’.
Hikaru covered his mouth with his free hand and his eyes squinted slightly and looked around to make sure they were the only one in the room at the moment. He knew there was other ways into the music room, but was pretty sure when he had come in that no one was there. He had walked around looking for them, but there was no one to entertain him or even to talk to. It was very dishearten to see that here for once. This was perhaps the only place he felt safe without Kaoru near him and yet he had not told anyone that before not even his brother.
He giggled slightly and turned back to Kaoru there was an evil sparkle about his eyes that only meant he was up to no good. It was really only in the past couple of years that he had become more devious in his planning. He knew if Kaoru had anything against his plans he would not allow him to do it, but he had not been stopped yet so his imagination was free to roam when it allowed him to do.
Hikaru paused for a moment and closed his eyes trying to form the right words careful, but with Kaoru it did not matter how he placed it. However, he decided to find out what had kept his brother. Planning could wait until he found what cruel person would keep him from his brother like this. He had seen a note, now that his mind was calmer he recalled the note from earlier today that Kaoru had kept from him.
He stepped closer to his brother and ran his left hand through Kaoru’s hair. He placed on his best worried face and stared into his brother’s eyes. “Tell me my brother…what cruel person could keep you away from me so long?” He muttered. His voice sounded hurt as his hand lingered near the back of Kaoru’s neck.

Kaoru instantly recognized the mischievous glint in his brother’s eyes. It was a look that he had seen time and time again during their years of countless pranks and gags. It was a look that promised that this joke would be even better than the last one and the one before that. His brother had always been the devious mastermind behind all of their plots, and never once had he failed to entertain them. Sure, they had gone over the deep end a few times, but that was years ago. It was all good ‘clean’ fun now.
But just as soon as the sparkle had found its rightful place in his brother’s eyes it was gone. Kaoru was taken aback by the new look that was gracing his twin’s features. Worry never really suited Hikaru, not unless they were playing one of their skits for the ladies, and to see it now scared Kaoru a tad.
Then his twin started talking. His fear was washed away almost instantly like sugar in a storm. He knew what his brother was doing; this was a punishment for leaving him alone. He had grabbed the kind hearted twin’s attention with the promise of new escapades only to change the subject, to leave him hanging on his every word. Kaoru was being forced to explain himself before he was given the prize of hearing what dastardly plan was brewing in his brother’s mind.
He felt the hand of his own flesh and blood moved through his hair and tickle at his neck, he couldn’t help his natural reaction of leaning into the contact. Why was it that he craved to be close to his brother? Was it because they had been so very close since conception that he couldn’t dare tear himself away? Were they not part of the same person? Kaoru practically whimpered before he allowed himself to pout at his brother, his eyes shining with pain as if his brother’s refusal to share his secrets had physically hurt him.
”Hikaru… you’re terrible.” He said that and yet Kaoru knew that there is no possible way that he would be able to keep it from his brother, not that he had been planning on keeping it a secret in the first place. Hikaru was Kaoru’s greatest weakness, he knew that, or at least, Kaoru was pretty sure that his twin knew that. Why else would he play such a card when his defenses were down? Kaoru brought his hand up to hold onto the cuff of the shirtsleeve that was currently resting close to his cheek.
It had been eating him enough since earlier, knowing that he was going to do something that his brother didn’t know about. It wasn’t even an important something! And now he was being forced to go through the arduous task of admitting where he was and why he went while simultaneously waiting like a puppy for its bone for information on their newest ploy.
”One of the boys from the lower classes asked me to be his tutor.” Kaoru said as he blinked, clearing his eyes of pain and filling with a begging look that asked for forgiveness. ”I was only telling him that I couldn’t. I don’t have the time for anyone else.” At this point Kaoru’s lips curled into a small, hopeless smile that he knew all too well looked adorable on him. ”How could I have accepted, Hikaru, when that would have only taken more of my time away from you?”

Hikaru watched as his brother freeze when he pouted and looked hurt. Luring his brother into a false sense of security about the idea of playing a prank on Tamaki and then crushing it like it was a fly that was caught in the spider’s web. He would have to free the fly a bit later, but now he would toy with his brother and punish him for such an act of leaving him like so. Perhaps he did this because he was jealous that someone else stole Kaoru’s attention or his brother had foolishly just went ahead and went without him. Either way, Hikaru would have his reward for waiting.
Just seeing his brother react and move closer to him was enough to relax him and know that his brother was truly sorry for today’s deed and crime. He would forgive him either way even if he had to let the spider move closer to the fly and ready to wrap the pour creature up. He did enjoy seeing his brother squirm like this it was slightly more satisfying than watching anyone else around them.
He knew if the ladies were around they would love to see this and knew they would have to act this out in front of them one day. It would be interesting to see what they would do and who side they would take in this ordeal of theirs. He closed his eyes and pictured the ladies sitting in the chairs and watching them. He had to admit to himself that it was more fun seeing their smiling faces than the hurt ones they use to see. They even had more material to go on than just simply reading a silly little school girl’s love letter.
Hikaru held back a smirk when his brother told him that he was terrible. He liked being called terrible by his brother it sent a shiver down his spine for the most part and it made him want to laugh and tell his brother that everything would simply be okay. As long as they had each other and their devious plans everything was open to them and there was no way that anyone was going to stop them. For now he would have to contain that feeling and make sure he played his part well.
He felt the slight tug on his blazer sleeve and stiffen a bit as his brother spoke. He knew this was not going to be good. He turned his head slightly away from Kaoru as he started to explain that the note was some other boy wanting Kaoru’s attention and in studying. Now it was his turn to look hurt about the news of such a thing. How could his only brother leave him and not spend time with him?! He seemed to have a look of disappointment on his face as if he had been betrayed by the only person he loved.
He slowly turned back to his brother and saw the pain in his eyes and looking for forgiveness for his acts today. He watched as he curled his lip and smile and spoke how he could not take on the boy as his tutor of academics because it would take away his time with him. It filled him with joy and his look of disappointment vanished quickly.
“I knew you couldn’t keep this a secret, Kaoru-kun,” Hikaru smirked some. “….Don’t ever do that again….you had me worried you was off meeting with a girl without me!” He shook his head slightly and dismissed the idea out of his mind at once. He knew what his brother sought in telling him why he had something to do after the final bell. A plan that was forming needed to be feed now and it was going to be one that it would be huge to pull off.
He bite his lip slightly and drew away from Kaoru and walked over to his discarded cup of coffee and took a drink finding that it was cold now and simply sighing about it. He pushed it to the center of the table and took a glance around the room before looking his brother in the eye once more, the sparkle of trouble was back in his eye as if had never vanish from it.
“Two for one special this time? Not only do we get the boss, but that nasty aunt of ours that cannot tell us apart for the life of her!” He laughed slightly. Their parents were planning their aunt’s birthday party to be held at their manor in a few weeks. It annoyed him that their own mother couldn’t tell them apart, but their aunt’s words and laughter had always bugged him the most. He knew if they plotted anything too terrible that involved their aunt their parents would become a problem, but that was something he was willing to chance. “This would be bigger than the frog we let attack her face has children!” He was now trying to hold back a laugh at his idea of fun.
He closed his eyes and circled around the table with one arm behind his back and one hand up and his finger tapping against his jawbone. He needed to hear Kaoru’s words that he would love to go along with this plan. He was nervous that his brother would say it would be too big and dangerous for them to pull off. However, he would talk his brother into this plan even if it meant blackmailing him. His aunt needed to pay and Tamaki would be the fool that helped them do it.

“I was never planning on keeping it a secret…” Kaoru mumbled under his breath before his brother stepped away from them, creating a gap between them that made Kaoru feel as if he had lost all warmth. And he hadn’t, truly. He just felt that is was so insignificant, so troublesome, so pointless that it would only bothered his brother to have told him before talking to the guy. Hikaru would have been upset knowing that Kaoru wanted to do it alone to let the guy down easy. Let’s face it, there’s nothing easy about anything when the twins are working as a team.
Kaoru frowned and looked over at his brother, through his bangs that had fallen out of place, who was walking over to the table. And then, just like that, they let the subject drop. It just didn’t matter anymore and they had bigger fish to fry anyway. Why bother talking about things that have already happened and can’t be changed when they could be talking about more entertaining endeavors?
He watched with mild interest as his brother took a drink of something that he could have only guessed was coffee. Now that was one of the tiny, insignificant differences between him and Hikaru that no one knew about, except for maybe Haruhi. While Hikaru preferred coffee, Kaoru preferred tea. Though either one of them has no problem drinking the other they still have their preferences. It was the difference in their palate; Hikaru could stomach stronger flavors and spices, where as Kaoru liked things slightly more delicate. The younger twin wasn’t one for Mexican food.
Finally Kaoru moved from where he had been left standing alone, he walked up to the opposite side of the table and leaned against it lightly so that he could have a front row seat as the plan came out. His palms were pressed against the cold wood with his fingers curled ever so slightly around the lip of the table.
Two for one special. It wasn’t very often that they had one of those and the thought of it intrigued him. But when he started to mention their aunty Kaoru was slightly taken aback. They hadn’t pulled a prank on her for years, but of course that was because she had been out of the country frequently. And they never had time to think up anything with the brief visits here and there that she made.
Their aunty was a rude woman who never listened to anyone but herself. She was arrogant and self centered. When she did visit she would always fill their halls with pointless chatter of all of the great things that she has done. She would talk badly about their mother when she was away and about their father when he was away. But even though she was such a horrible woman did she really deserve such a devious (their plans were always devious) trick during her own celebration?
Absolutely.
She was the type of woman who never had to work a day in her life and she married up. She treated every other person as if they were below her, even her own sister. Sure, their mother was a tad eccentric, but she works hard and loves what she makes, that’s far more than anything that their aunty could say for herself. Her petty jealousy was becoming old and Kaoru was more than willing to aid in having some sense knocked into her.
Though, pulling a prank on her probably would quite accomplish that exactly, but it would still be loads of fun to cause a stir. They needed something to do that would cut through the building tension that the upcoming movie was slowly accumulating. It was like walking in pudding whenever you walked past Kyouya. But Kaoru still had absolutely no idea how his brother was planning to pull off something so big, or even how he would incorporate Tamaki into their plan. No matter how though it would probably genius. Their plan’s blossom would be intricately woven, he was sure.
When his brother stopped talking, leaving Kaoru hanging on his every word, Kaoru waited patiently for him to continue. When he didn’t right away, Kaoru realized that he was waiting for his input, his approval, anything. So Kaoru said “A little accident at a party always makes it interesting.” He smiled a sly smile and his eye glittered with amusement. That was probably the best thing for Hikaru to receive, his brother’s approval, and Kaoru never failed his brother.
”But how?” He inquired, dying to know more about the plot of the plan, dying to be told the story that was being played out in his brother’s head. They were not against pulling out all the stops to pull a prank, but the younger twin was always aware of the question ‘can we pull it off?’ This wasn’t just going to be some simple prank, he knew it. This was going to be the talk of the town. They might get in trouble but thankfully though no one is able to stay mad at them for long.

Hikaru was not sure why Kaoru had wanted to deal with this issue on his own like this, but he did not want to cause an issue between the two of them at the moment. If he tried to get it out of his brother to why he wanted to do this alone then it would cause a fraction of a rift into their relationship and someone outside their inner circle was just not worth that feeling for him. Dismissing something so trivial was easy and done with for now.
He heard Kaoru say he was not planning on keeping it a secret and that was good enough for him. That was all he needed to hear from his brother and their small fraud was over and done with. There was no going back on this and it was just that simple between them. However, they could use this on the girls that came into the club that sought them out and it would be interesting to see their charmed faces.
He pushed the thought out of his mind as he explained the basic idea of what he had been thinking about. He did seek his brother’s approval on something this big because if he did not have it; it felt like he was aiming for a dark whole that nothing was at the bottom. He sought his brother’s approval more so than any other sibling would. He knew Kyouya had issues with his own brothers, but could not for the life of him dear to think what those sorts of issues would do to him and Kaoru. He shivered slightly and closed his eyes to shake that feeling out of his mind. It was a cold numb feeling thinking like that and it reminded him of the time back in middle school.
Hikaru looked up when his brother said that accidents always made something interesting. He could not help but agree with his brother at the words. He chuckled slightly and nodded mainly because he knew he had hooked his brother with these little dirty tricks of his. It was fun doing this to his brother because he knew he had his brother by his every word and it was only a matter of time before it was all out on the table.
However, Hikaru needed to make sure there was no one else around the room they occupied and make sure nothing was ruin between them. Secrets were best kept that between the twins when it came to a prank. One mistake and they would find themselves bench and watched careful though many had already started to do that now and it was rather funny still getting away with everything even under their watchful eyes.
Hikaru moved towards the door and listened outside of it for a moment before grabbed his bag and pulling out a folder from it. He moved back to the table and laid it on top of it and looked his brother in the eye. “Our mother lacks hiding things from us…even when she really wants to.”
On the outside of the yellow folder it was label ‘new designs’. Hikaru smirked some and shook his head. It was all too easy finding things out from their mother and it nearly always made him laugh about the stunts she tried to hide from them. “Her new design folders are always black. This is nearly everything she has planned to date for the little party she is throwing for Aunty. I came crossed it while I was looking for something in her office the other day.”
He looked back down to the folder and reached out and opened it and flipped through a few pages and landed on a page with detail seating charts. Even their mother usually forgot what the charts did and went by the newest one and he knew she would not think twice about what she actually put. “We do something simple at first…if Mother catches on to us that we are plotting something and sees that its because of her planning her attention will be on us…not the accident by Souh. We will continue to do simple things to draw her attention to us.”
Hikaru smirked some and closed his eyes. He had yet to tell his brother the plan. He was just telling him the basics of it first and see if that caught his attention more. He also wanted his input about the things he had found out and to see if he was up to anything at the moment. He took a breath and moved and sat down in the chair he was next to.
