Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Really, was he really thinking that? The young honor student paced in the rather empty cafeteria. It was late after school so mostly everyone had gone home or were somewhere else. Sure there were a few people that still stayed around but a few others didn't really pay attention to the boy. He didn't expect them to and for once he really didn't care whether they did or not. They were not on his mind at all that evening.
The one person that was? Haruka. She was pretty, and she was nice and she hadn't judged him. He had fallen in the fountain for Christ's sake. Instead of laughing at him she had actually helped him. He absentmindedly moved his glasses on his face. There was a dance coming up a coming back to school bash. He really wanted to go with her, but there was no way she would go with someone like him. Sure, she had been nice at the fountain, but that wasn't around anyone.
He continued to pace. Slowly the words that were circling in his mind started to come out of his mouth. He didn't realize and wasn't aware that anyone could be listening. "There is no way she would go to the dance with me. Haruka.. she is so pretty.. and she is nothing like me. I mean.. how could I even think about that. I mean.. she's.. " his words stopped for a moment.
His legs felt shaky and he only had a moment to sink into one of the table's chairs before his legs gave out. He could feel a brokeness in him he hadn't really felt before. He didn't like it and it hurt him a lot. He didn't even know what to say or feel. However he did feel as a few tears fell from his face and he quickly wiped them away moving his glasses.
"I'm ... not even in her league.." he said softly to himself resting his head on the table. God.. he felt like a total and complete idiot for letting his emotions fall in love with her, when he knew he couldn't be anything to her.

In preparations for the upcoming ball, Tamaki was getting the assistance of the Ouran Cafeteria staff to cater the occasion. After all, the school was purchasing the services of gourmet chefs; they could easily cater a host club party. Besides, they were cheaper than dragging out another company to cater. They were getting a lot of the usual spread, and some deluxe sushi for Haruhi and her fancy tuna. He had just finished negotiating with the chefs, or well just passing on Kyouya’s instructions to them, and was now just wandering the cafeteria. The club was down for preparation time for the dance (and to build up some excitement for the ladies) and so he really was not in a rush to do anything. About all he was doing was talking to the occasional girl that was still around, personally inviting them to the dance. Still, that didn’t take up too much time, so he was left alone to wander.
It wasn’t before long, however, that he heard a young man mumbling something. While he knew eavesdropping was rude, he couldn’t help but sneak in closer when he heard the word ‘dance.’ It didn’t take long for Tamaki to work out the whole story from the almost clone of him (how often did you see blonde-haired, blue-eyed boys in Japan?) speaking. Apparently he wanted to ask a girl to the dance but believed that he wasn’t good enough for her. Now that was just crazy talk! Apparently those feelings weren’t just normal nervousness either; the boy looked utterly devastated! Well, if he was willing to feel this much over a girl, then that meant there had to be something there. And Tamaki was not the kind of person to just sit back and do nothing when a moment arose to bring two people together in blissful romance! Whether the boy liked it or not, Tamaki was going to help him.
”Cheer up good fellow, that’s no way to talk when you’re in love.” Tamaki stated as he walked up to the guy, not really caring about any complains the boy would have about been eavesdropped on.
”I couldn’t help but overhear about your issue about this Haruka girl. If you really feel so strong about it, you shouldn’t give up just like that.”/b]
Getting into passionate speech mode, Tamaki quickly pointed his finger at the boy’s face.
”As Tamaki Suoh, king of the host club, I cannot stand idly by as romance dies in despair and agony. Therefore, I will help you ask this Haruka girl out to the dance and ensure that you have a wonderful and romantic evening……” Tamaki silenced for a moment before dropping his finger, confused,”Uhm…what was your name?”
